The use of a Utah Online Marriage for immigration purposes is one of the top questions we receive! Unfortunately, we are not qualified to answer many of the main questions about immigration in the US and beyond.
First, here is what we do know:
- The marriage certificate in a Utah online marriage is a real, legal US-based marriage certificate issued by the County of Utah in the state of Utah. It does not say “Online” or have any other difference to any other marriage certificate issued by Utah County. In fact, ALL certificates issued by Utah County are exactly the same, and are generated by their online system. You can see a real certificate issued by Utah County on this page from my Featured Couples program.
- Other countries MAY accept marriage certificates from the US with a properly issued apostille attached (with known exceptions for Germany). This is not guaranteed.
Unfortunately, these two facts are the limit of our factual knowledge regarding immigration and online marriage. Rev. Heron has performed hundreds of weddings for couples whose marriages cross international boundaries. However, we don’t have statistics on how many of them have been successful, and anything else is simply anecdotal evidence. Need to know about non-US immigration and Utah online marriage?
Immigration Questions for the US?
Fortunately, there ARE experts out there who have not just anecdotes, but facts! So we are very pleased to be able to recommend the services of Maria Pastrana, an attorney who started her business Immigration for Couples because she herself went through a difficult immigration process!

We really can’t recommend Immigration for Couples strongly enough, particularly for those who need advice on US immigration procedures.
Megan and her team are committed to helping couples through the US Immigration process. She has an amazing amount of free resources!
On her website are free guides, a webinar, videos (SO MANY videos!), articles, a newsletter and so much more!
If you need help on your path to immigration in the US, use their chat system to get started, or just schedule an immigration consultation with Megan today!
She and her team are the real experts!
In fact, she even interviewed Rev. Heron on her podcast! You can listen to it on this page, but please know it is a little out of date, so definitely check out her site for the most up-to-date info.
Non-US Immigration Questions?
Our main recommendation for any non-US based immigration questions is to find a local immigration specialist. It would be nearly impossible for any one person to know the fine details and pitfalls of all countries’ immigration processes. So seeking out your local experts is the best place to start.
If you don’t know where to start, Google maps can be helpful, or you can do an internet search.
